Beta Test the Solo Sojourn Trail App

Use the app the way you actually would, tell us what is confusing, missing, or wrong, and keep free access for life.

Beta testing is not the research study. Testers are volunteers helping improve the app. There is no payment, no survey instrument, and no research consent involved. The University of Florida study has its own screening survey, consent process, and gift cards, and it is described on its own page: Research Study. You can do one, the other, or both.

What the App Does Today

The Solo Sojourn Trail app at solosojourntrail.com helps solo women find and evaluate camping and workamping locations on Florida’s public lands. Two things are live and ready for testing:

Florida Parks Database

Florida state parks and public lands with the details a solo woman needs before she commits: amenities, cell coverage notes, and volunteer contacts where we have them.

Workamping and Host Listings

Volunteer host and workamping openings on Florida public lands, so you can see what is available and what each position actually asks of you.

Not built yet: a community forum, feature voting, and private RV park listings. Those are on the roadmap, and testers will hear about them first. We would rather tell you what is missing than promise it.

What a Beta Tester Does

Create a free account. Use the app when you are planning a trip, looking at a park, or weighing a host position. When something is confusing, missing, wrong, or broken, tell us. That is the whole job.

There is no minimum time. Ten minutes and one honest note about a screen that made no sense is more useful than an hour of polite silence. Critical feedback is the point.

For now, feedback goes by email to jolene.macfadden@solosojourn.org. A short in-app feedback form is being built and testers will be the first to use it.

What Testers Get

Free access for life. Anyone who tests during the beta keeps permanent free access to every Solo Sojourn Trail feature, including features added later. No subscription fees, ever. That is our thanks for helping build it.

Testers also see new features before the public, get a say in what gets built next, and hear first when new listings and guides are released.

Who Should Test

Women who travel solo, or want to, by car, van, or RV, and who are interested in camping or workamping on Florida’s public lands. Basic smartphone skills are enough. You do not need to be an RVer today; a woman planning her first trip sees things an experienced traveler skips right past.

If you expect a polished product, this is not the moment. The app is a work in progress, and it will change under you. That is what testing means.
